IUC – The circumstances presented are complex, accurately reflecting the nature of fraud investigations. It highlights the various challenges that fraud investigators may encounter during an investigation. The aide memoire serves as a crucial tool for individuals who have never conducted interviews under such circumstances, particularly in light of the relatively intricate case details. In my previous role as a police officer, we had weeks to prepare for interviews, and even then, the aide memoires were frequently used. The course aims to set realistic expectations for trainees, preparing them to handle these situations in their own investigations. This exercise is valuable in introducing the necessary skills for managing such cases.
Cross Examination – The cross-examination was genuinely enjoyable as it opens a trainee up to real-life practical court experience. I would love to do it again and enjoyed being in that setting, though daunting. I think this is a brilliant initiative and timed perfectly at the end of the course, as it would align with the end of an investigation.
The course ran smoothly, I benefitted as I worked with PACE and much of the legislation discussed in a previous role. I feel that this is a lot of information to learn as a trainee. The exams I thought were difficult, and know that my past experience, and the lessons taught by the PDA Team were vital in me passing. I have nothing negative to say, the trainers were great, the programme is well structured and enjoyed every minute of it.
