Introduction
Bribery and corruption are often viewed as working ‘hand in hand’ with corruption being seen as a forerunner to bribery.
This course will help you identify processes to monitor compliance and progress with your organisations conduct standards and adherence to your bribery and corruption policies.
What the Course covers
By the end of the learning you will be able to:
- Explain the wider context of bribery and corruption and its harm to individuals, organisations and society
- Describe how offences are committed under Sections 1, 2, 6 and 7 of the Bribery Act 2010 and the associated penalties and the main defences in the Act.
- Explain the impact of the Act on the public and private sectors
- Understand what a bribe can consist of and how it is passed
- Understand what Bribery & Corruption risks exist for organisations inside and outside of government
- Explain what controls can be put in place to reduce bribery and corruption risks.
- Explain what will constitute “adequate procedures” as set out in the 2010 Act and associated guidance inside and outside of government
- Identify the governance measures in place to monitor an organisation’s ABC policy and its effectiveness
- Understand what an organisations ideal Whistleblowing policy and procedures should be
- Describe what a Gifts and Hospitality Register should consist of, and how it can be managed.
- Describe what a Conflict-of-Interest Register should consist of, and how it can be managed.
- Describe what a Bribery red flag is and its relevance to ABC
Who should attend?
The course is relevant for all counter fraud staff wishing to enhance their understanding of bribery and corruption activity, it provides the level of knowledge and skills required to prevent and detect bribery and corruption.
How will you be taught?
The Course is delivered over one day via the Zoom platform. We use a range of different methodologies to cater for all students learning.
Assessment and Accreditation Criteria
Students have the opportunity to assess their learning through small group exercises. Upon completion of the course, students will receive certification.
