Introduction
Procurement fraud is pervasive and can cause significant financial losses and damage to an organisation’s reputation.
This course will help you to understand what procurement fraud is, how it can be committed and identify the controls to put in place to prevent it.
What the Course covers
By the end of the learning you will be able to:
- Explain the term Procurement Fraud and how it harms individuals, organisations and society in general
- Explain the primary Legislative framework that addresses Procurement Fraud
- Understand and explain the major Procurement Fraud Schemes (Risks) that organisations are exposed to
- Explain what controls can be put in place to mitigate Procurement Fraud risks.
- Identify the governance measures in place to monitor an organisation’s effectiveness in combatting Procurement Fraud.
- Describe what a Procurement red flag is and its relevance to an organisation
- Understand who the Competition and Markets Authority are and what their responsibilities are
- Explain how allegations of Procurement Fraud can be handled and who they can be referred to
- Explain how to encourage the reporting of concerns and how to develop a process to handle them
- Understand the purpose of Procurement Fraud Loss Measurement and Fraud Risk Assessment Exercises
- Understand what elements are required for an effective Counter Procurement Fraud Strategy and a Response Plan
- Explain the range of sources which hold relevant information relating to Procurement Fraud
- Recognise investigations inform identification of gaps and weaknesses in business processes and that they need to be addressed.
- Explain what will constitute ‘adequate procedures’ as set out in the 2010 Act and associated guidance inside and outside of government
Who should attend?
The course is relevant for all counter fraud staff wishing to enhance their understanding of this type of fraud and the preventative controls to put in place.
How will you be taught?
The Course is delivered over one day via the Zoom platform. We use a range of different methodologies to cater for all students learning.
Assessment and Accreditation Criteria
Students have the opportunity to assess their learning through small group exercises. Upon completion of the course, students will receive certification.
