IUC – I very much enjoyed it. I have experience teaching workshops/conducting interviews in this area so I took this as an opportunity to ‘polish up’ my standards and I found it to be very professional and authentic. No role play is genuinely ever “as real” but at least at a technical and procedural level it got absolutely as close as it could.
Cross Examination – I thought this was brilliant. The classroom set up obviously took away ‘absolute’ authenticity but it was actually quite identical in a lot of ways to the way I gave evidence during COVID. I thought the barrister was fair in his delivery to what an experience like this is like and I do think this part of the course is invaluable.
I have thoroughly enjoyed it and I think after 25 years in investigation it was nice to have “an old dog learn new tricks”. When I think back over what we’ve learnt over such a short timeframe, weekly, mostly via zoom, it is honestly astonishing
